The Benefits of being part of The Primary First Trust
We develop innovative ways to add value to our schools
We work hard to ensure we add value to our schools. We have a range of Trust services that provide high-quality expert advice and support in core functions to ensure compliance and best value, whilst reducing the burden on schools and creating headspace for our headteachers to focus on our pupils’ education.
We strive to enhance the overall school experience for our teachers, staff and pupils by creating the best learning and working environment. We have dedicated specialist services in HR, Finance, IT, Estates and Facilities, Marketing and Customer Experience and Central Administration.
Autonomy: We know each of our Schools has its own unique character and processes. Our Head Teachers have the freedom to create the vision for their school and are responsible for driving it forward. We also showcase many great initiatives through national thought leadership.
Effective School Improvement Framework: We have a robust school improvement framework that supports our Schools across areas including education strategy, quality assurance and accountability, as well as safeguarding, health and safety, data protection and governance.
Career Development: We favour career development, linked to our core values, over performance management. We empower all our colleagues to develop their careers with us through our tailored CPD programme which stretches, challenges and inspires, from our Early Career Teachers and support staff to our Head Teachers and senior leaders.
Collaborate Networks: We have established networks where like-minded colleagues across the Trust can share experiences and inform best practice. For example, our newly launched Associates programme enables talented practitioners to facilitate school improvement and our bespoke leadership pathways develop key knowledge and skills at all levels.
High Quality Education: We work in partnership with our schools to develop their vision and values, curriculum design and teaching and learning strategies. We combine this with our networks, training and school improvement framework, to ensure our Schools have everything they need to provide our pupils with the best possible education.
Trust Services: We have a range of dedicated specialist services, including HR, Finance, IT, Estates and Facilities, Marketing and Customer Experience and Central Administration to help create the best learning and working environment.
Exciting Events and Opportunities: We have PFT + which provides a range of fun and engaging activities for pupils at all levels and abilities.
Community Focussed: We use our resources and financial acumen to ensure we are always investing in Schools’ facilities to provide high-quality learning environments. We are also passionate about sharing these with our local communities and giving back in any way we can.
Impactful Governance: We have a clear thread running from the Local Governance Partnership Body through to the Executive Team and Board of Trustees which ensures accountability, quality and impact for our pupils and Schools.
Sound Financial Management: We take pride in our Trust philosophy on, and management of funding, putting value at the heart of financial planning so that our Schools are financially sound. We work with our Schools to secure the best provision, whilst reinvesting every possible pound directly into education.
We believe in gradual and sustainable growth
We truly value our close-knit Trust community and experience the benefits of us knowing each other, working together and the honest and real collaboration it creates. We are passionate about continuing to help as many children as possible have an excellent primary education to give them the best start in life. To do this, we uphold our ambition for gradual, conscious and sustainable growth. This means we want anyone who joins our Trust to share our values, which is why we take the time to get to know each new school and understand what makes them unique and different, what their challenges are and importantly who they are, and give them a chance to get to know us.

“The Trust has been fundamental in supporting leaders with school improvement. Having joined as an ‘Inadequate’ Junior School, the Trust quickly worked with leaders to enhance their leadership skills, as well as providing support for all staff at all levels to raise standards. As a relatively inexperienced Head Teacher, the support and guidance I am given is invaluable, particularly around compliance aspects such as finance and health and safety.”
Charlotte Aldham-Breary, Head Teacher at The Academy of Cuxton Schools
