Westcourt Primary School
Westcourt Primary and Nursery School is a Good school, which is striving to be outstanding. Despite being located in an area of high deprivation, the most recent Ofsted report (November 2019) describes it as a safe haven for children.
It is a friendly and welcoming school in which staff, pupils and parents work together to ensure that all children are valued and enjoy their time in school. Pupils have a positive attitude to learning, knowing that their best learning happens when they are challenged. They know that making mistakes is a vital part of the learning process and this enables them to be efficient, reflective learners.
Children treat each other with respect knowing that people have different needs and are accepting of these. Learning opportunities are enhanced through a range of school trips and visitors into school and all classes work with their parents during the year. Reading has a high priority, we read high quality books that challenge pupils. One pupil commented that’s ‘It’s like going on an adventure without leaving the room.’ We have extensive grounds, which includes a large outdoor learning area for children in the EYFS, a MUGA and extensive playing fields.
